Rick Carlile

Rick Carlile has been a nightclub bouncer, teacher, tech writer, security industry journalist, martial arts instructor, illustrator, coder, business owner, book publisher, and best-selling author. He's survived earthquakes, floods, typhoons, rip currents, motorcycle crashes, and shipwrecked freighters. He once rode a motorcycle through an active lightning cloud in the high mountains, an experience he describes as "clarifying."
Now he's just trying to take it easy.
He spent twenty years in Asia, living in tropical rural Taiwan and exploring the island country's rich interior and coastline, and he now resides on Montenegro's Mediterranean coast. Back in 2008, he and his partner Judy were married on the beach in Guam, and they remain together — along with a series of German Shepherds.
Rick has been writing, playing, and recording music as long as he can remember. He likes to focus on the good things in life, being particularly fond of wine, women, dogs, freedom, and the Pacific Ocean. He's also the author of America's favorite (unofficial) Scrabble book, "The Dictionary of Two-Letter Words."
